How To Reach Reggio Calabria

Reggio Calabria can be reached either by plane, by train or by car.

By Plane

Reggio Calabria is served by Aereoporto dello Stretto ( www.aeroportodellostretto.it/ ) . However, the Italian national operator Alitalia announced that per 27 March, 2017 they will stop all flight operations from Reggio Calabria to Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate and Turin airports.

Update (June 1, 2017): Alitalia decided to extend the service at the airoport of Reggio Calabria with one flight per day to/from Rome and one flight per day to/from Milan until September 30.

There are now three options when traveling by plane:

  1. fly to Lamezia Terme and take either the train (~2h) or shuttle bus (~1,5h) to Reggio Calabria
  2. fyl to Naples and then take the train (~4,5h) to Reggio Calabria
  3. fly to Reggio Calabria directly

By Train

The central station of Reggio Calabria (Reggio di Calabria Centrale) is the main railway station of the city. Visit the official site for information about the routes and timetables. Among other, there are many high-speed connections from and to Rome.

By Car

From the North: Highway A3 (Salerno-Reggio Calabria). Reggio Calabria is the teminal of the highway.
